December 7, 2005 -- WASHINGTON — The American Legion is torching Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's support of a new measure that outlaws flag-trashing without addressing the issue of a Constitutional amendment to ban it.

"In deference to the senator, she may be sincere in her quest for a law, but she is sincerely wrong," American Legion National Commander Thomas Bock said.

"The remedy she has chosen, a statute without an enabling amendment to the U.S. Constitution, is a long road to a dead end."
