A match made in heaven

Lately Falafel O'Reilly has been on one of his "War on Christmas" rants. For background, see Media Matters here. I was just poking around the internets, and I think I found the perfect cartoon to go with his diatribe.

Christmas under siege — the big picture. That is the subject of this evening's "Talking Points Memo."

All over the country, Christmas is taking flak. In Denver this past weekend, no religious floats were permitted in the holiday parade there. In New York City, Mayor Bloomberg unveiled the holiday tree and no Christian Christmas symbols are allowed in the public schools. Federated Department Stores, [that's] Macy's, have done away with the Christmas greeting, "Merry Christmas."

(snip)

Secular progressives realize that America as it is now will never approve of gay marriage, partial birth abortion, euthanasia, legalized drugs, income redistribution through taxation, and many other progressive visions because of religious opposition.

(from here.)

That's the text. Here's the visual:

der sturmer

If you don't recognize it, it's a 1928 cartoon from Der Sturmer of the secular progressives trying to steal Christmas evil Jews stealing Christmas from the good Germans who would put the evil Jews in concentration camps a decade or so after this cartoon was drawn. Kind of amazing how well the picture works with O'Reilly's speech, no?

You have to admit that Bill's defense of his "bomb San Francisco" comments was a very brave thing considering that he did it on a conservative TV show.
