September 11, 1857 - the Mountain Meadows Massacre!
September 11, 1857 is the day the Mountain Meadows Massacre transpired in southern Utah. Approximately 120 men, women, and children in a wagon train from Arkansas were murdered by a band of Mormons set on holy vengeance. The Native Americans who were also involved had been spurred by the Mormons, some of whom dressed as Indians to conceal their identity. John D. Lee pretended to come to the Arkansans' aid, and after having them lay down their weapons in truce, enabled a defenseless bloodbath to ensue.

Arbuckle was arrested on September 11th, and was held over for manslaughter on flimsy evidence. However, massive negative publicity was undertaken by the "yellow journalism" press -- repeatedly making lurid claims, in screaming headlines, that Arbuckle had sexually abused Rappé to death with (by various accounts) a coke bottle, a milk bottle, a champagne bottle, and/or a chunk of ice. These factually unsupported charges caused an incredibly hostile environmentfor holding a fair trial, despite overwhelming evidence pointing to Arbuckle's innocence.

Allende's attempts to build a socialist society was opposed by business interests. Later, Henry Kissinger admitted that in September 1970, President Richard Nixon ordered him to organize a coup against Allende's government. Kissinger also said that he called off the operation a month later. The government documents, however, indicate that the Central Intelligence Agency continued to encourage a coup in Chile.
On 11th September, 1973, a military coup removed Allende's government from power. Salvador Allende died in the fighting in the presidential palace in Santiago. General Augusto Pinochet replaced Allende as president.
Coincidence? I think not!
