Bring 'em on

The American Legion has come out against the First Amendment. Thomas P. Cadmus, national commander of The American Legion had this to say:

"For many of us, the visions of Jane Fonda glibly spouting anti-American messages with the North Vietnamese and protestors denouncing our own forces four decades ago is forever etched in our memories," Cadmus said. "We must never let that happen again. I assure you, The American Legion will stand against anyone and any group that would demoralize our troops, or worse, endanger their lives by encouraging terrorists to continue their cowardly attacks against freedom loving peoples."

Let's see, "endanger their lives by encouraging terrorists to continue their cowardly attacks"... what does that remind me of?

"There are some who, uh, feel like that, you know, the conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is: Bring 'em on. We got the force necessary to deal with the security situation. “ - George W. Bush, July 2, 2003.

I've never understood the right's obsession with Jane Fonda. She's an actres, entitled to her opinion, of course, but not a policy maker who could change the political course.

At the time, she wasn't even the accomplished actress she later became, but was just out of her "sex kitten" phase.

You can agree with her or disagree with her, but she was hardly in a position to make or break the war. She just didn't have that much political power.

Wingers, Get over it, already!

The American Legion has lots of issues with the First Amendment.
One of the reasons I am no longer a member.
Yes, I'm a shameless blogwhore too.
